Cirtex were provided the opportunity to attend the GEOANZ Conference in Brisbane, Australia organised by the Australasian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). The conference attendees hailed from Australia and New Zealand, along with other international guests. The aim of the conference was to allow industry professionals to learn from and connect with each other over the three day conference, which was headlined by a presentation by the conference’s prestigious speaker and former president of the IGS, Professor J.P. Giroud.

The conference focused on Advances in Geosynthetics, and included other topics such as coastal protection, environmental containment and infrastructure reinforcement & stabilisation.

We also were provided with the opportunity to be a conference sponsor and exhibitor, which allowed us to have a display stand in the exhibition hall. Our stand featured a full size MagnumStone block to demonstrate the benefits of the system when used alongside a high strength geogrid to allow fast and effective construction of MSE wall systems. The team who attended also ran a competition during the conference for attendees to guess the ultimate strength of the StrataGrid Uniaxial Geogrid that we had on show. The correct answer for this grade was 165kN/m with the closest estimate going to Jonathan Shamrock of Tonkin + Taylor.
